artbreaker.

I am Lewis Mason and I am 20 years old.
Probably not that much different from your average self-inflicted artist, but a little darker, a lot more cynical, and I can most likely fragment any kind of interest you'd have to get to know me in seconds. I live in South London, but I originally come from the West Midlands, and attend Kingston University studying Music and History of Art, Design and Film. I'm pierced, stretched, tattooed and branded. I play multiple instruments, ranging from the classical to the contemporary, and pretty much either listen to Folk, Electronic, or Hardcore music depending on how I'm feeling. I don't eat very much and I'm practically a vegetarian, I drink a lot of green tea, and I usually make or redesign clothes because I'm far too poor.
Pleased to meet you.

FAQs

How tall are you?
6’1” - 6’2”

How much do you weigh?
Somewhere between 10 and 10.5 stone.

What’s your favourite colour?
Grey. Black and Ruby are close second and third.

Are you straight/gay/bisexual?
I appreciate the beauty of both, but without men my life would be pretty shit I guess.

Are you single?
Single, never looking.

What did you/are you study(ing)?
I’m currently at Kingston University studying a double Bachelors degree in Music & History of Art, Design and Film, and about to start my second year. Previously, I attended a narrow-minded and secular grammar institute in Rugby, where I studied Art & Design, Music, Graphics Design, French, and AS Computing among others. I then went on to study a BTEC National Diploma in Music Performance at college, with a National Award in Music Technology, before taking a gap year for work and improving my freelance hairdressing.

What do you look for in a significant other?
Not much specifically, I don’t have a type, just people who are laid back and chillin’. Superficially - maybe tats, piercings, a dry sense of humour, the capability to throw me around a bit… they’re always welcome.

What is your accent like?
You can view my regional accent video HERE. I come from the Midlands, but I sound a lot more well-spoken than most people from round there, so no one can usually place my accent. Most Londoners seem confused by my accent too.

Do you smoke/drink/take drugs?
Full house.

I read on your blog that you’re a musician?
Music and me have a very on and off relationship. I’ve been songwriting since the age of 14, but it wasn’t until 16 or so when I started taking it seriously. During 2008/2009, I wrote well over 200 songs, and released music for free under the stagename Sirens And Sounds for a while; a front I changed in college for a simpler one: iamlewismason. During high school, I fronted and did Vocals/Synths/Guitar for a pop/punk group called The Modern Myth and gigged a couple times, and joined a classic metal group then-called Exeunt and assisted in the writing/recording of their debut EP, as well as played Bass. I studied Music Performance at college and worked with a lot of people in various projects such as Laura & Lewis (Piano/Guitar), and created We Have Boyfriends for our second year project, and you can see some of our work HERE. I’m a multi-instrumentalist, but songwriting always comes first. I also mess around a little with production, mixing, and electronics a little and gained a Distinction in Music Technology, where I also learned how to record in a professional studio independently. I also presently study Music as my major field at Kingston University just performing with solo work.

Who do you live with?
I presently live with two friends, Teoh and Maz, because we all made the decision to privately rent a house for our first university year. Previously, I lived with my best friend Lianne for about a year, and then briefly with my friend Kai before I moved out for uni.  I tend to sofa surf from time to time too…

Do you have any siblings?
Two older brothers, Tom and Jamie. Both live in Amsterdam. Envy.

Do you have any pets?
I have three cats - Dizzy, Minnie, and Stan - and a golden retriever called Tom. I miss them a lot now I’ve moved out for university.

What piercings do you have?
Currently: Right Nose Ring (1.6mm), Left Labret (1.6mm), Right Lobe (12mm), Left Lobe (12mm), Left Tragus (1.6mm)
Retired: Septum (2.4mm - nose got cluttered after my ring happened), Left Labret (1.6mm - wonky snakebites), Bridge (1.6mm - rejected), Right Nostril (1.0mm - gun job, bad move)

Do you have any tattoos?
I have a few ideas for what I want in future but I prefer to do my own designs so I’m in no rush to get a lot. I do all of my own designs and I have some drawn up in various stages. I have a yellow bird on my right forearm, as a depiction of how important Lianne is to me and the impact she’s had on my life, and as a reference to our favourite album by Bright Eyes.

How many colours have you dyed your hair?
The list is endless. I started off as a tawny brown, then ginger, ash blonde, white, silver, lilac, hot pink, baby pink, dark red, bright yellow, dark purple, emerald/turquoise, green, grey, sky blue, bright red, orange, dark blue, peacock blue, neon blue/purple, black and teal, dark teal, light turquoise, ruby red, coral pink, platinum pink, lavender, lagoon blue, then went back “natural” to make it easier on my wallet while living at uni using Nice ‘N Easy 133A “Natural Medium Mahogany Brown”, and had a bit of a ginger phase using Special Effects “Napalm Orange” and L’oreal Feria “Intense Mango Copper”. I’m back to my natural colour more or less now since shaving it though, bit of a gingery mohawk though…

What instruments can you play?
Piano is my primary. I also play Guitar, Cello, and Bass.

Can I add your Facebook profile?
I prefer to keep my friends list to people I know, so unless I talk to you on the regular, likely not. And if you ask me for my Skype, I’ll probably want to kill you unless I talk to you a lot.

Do you have MSN/AIM/YIM?
I don’t use an IM client anymore, your best bet is my askbox.

Do you follow back?
Unless I’m overly busy, I take a quick look at every blog that follows me, and if I like the content, I usually follow. If I followed everyone who followed me though, my dashboard would be nightmarish…
